The Evaluation of the Malignant Characteristics of Conjunctival Lesions Based on the Dermatoscopic Algorithm

Background/Aim: This study analysed the prevalence of characteristics evaluated in dermatoscopy for melanocytic infiltrations conjunctiva with various degrees malignancy. Patients and Methods: A total 160 conjunctival pigmented lesions were studied. Each lesion was scored using dermatoscopic patterns malignancy described by Kittler. Also, Authors’ own clues added to evaluation. Results: In melanomas, following identified: asymmetry pattern colour, larger average number colours, presence grey structureless area, polymorphic vessels feeder vessels. black dots a colour typical malignant pre-cancerous (premalignant) - primary acquired melanosis (PAM) atypia. Cysts observed only group naevi. Conclusion: The are present conjunctiva. There are, however, some which allow differentiation between melanoma naevus also PAM.
